ALUMINUM OXIDE
Aluminum Oxide is one of the most well-known and cost-effective hard ceramic materials. Its good strength, thermal shock resistance (up to1,500°C!) , and low weight make it a leading choice for high-temperature and high friction applications like protective tubes and pressure tubes.
MACOR ®
Macor is a machinable ceramic that can be machined with ordinary metalworking tools. Macor combines the performance of a hard ceramic with the versatility of plastic. It is strong, rigid, heat resistant, radiation resistant, an excellent insulator, and has low thermal conductivity. Used for probe heads, test fixtures, ultra-high vacuum seals, insulators, retaining rings, & welding nozzles.
MYKROY/MYCALEX®
Mykroy/Mycalex's unique high-performance technical ceramic is a mix of finely powered electrical quality glass and precisely defined and classified mica. This material is prized for its insulation abilities.
OPTICAL SAPPHIRE
Sapphire is one of the hardest, most durable and most scratch-resistant materials on earth. Its resistance to extreme environmental conditions, heat, and its broad transmission range (UV to mid-infrared) make it ideal for numerous applications.
SILICON
Silicon is a hard ceramic material that maintains its outstanding mechanical strength and shock resistance in temperatures as high as 1,400 degrees. Used in aerospace for its high chemical corrosion resistance compared to other hard ceramics.
SPINEL
Spinel is a durable polycrystalline transparent ceramic that is ideal for precision optical components. Spinel is available in a wide variety of shapes and sizes, and features optical transparency from the near ultraviolet through the mid-wave infrared (MWIR) spectrum.
ZERODUR®
ZERODUR is an extremely low-expansion glass ceramic material that offers high precision, heat resistance, and excellent chemical stability. Useful for high-precision measurement and IC and LCD lithography, astronomy mirrors and ring laser gyros.
ZIRCONIA
Zirconia is a hard ceramic material with uncommonly high mechanical strength and toughness. Ideal for applications that require resistance to abrasion, impact, and corrosion.
